Directv - Customer service sucks

I was already paying for a "protection plan" that should have covered the replacement of my equipment. My HD-DVR stopped working The technician said the equipment I had was 10 yeard old and he did not have a replacement. He said he would replace the DVR with a non-DVR (mini-genie). I told him if it is a new contract, I don't want it. He called Directv and they agreed to replace with a mini-genie as that was the only option. One day later they send me an email letting me know that this is now a new 2 year contract? Why pay for protection plans if I could have got better equipment like a regular Genie 2 with the 2 year contract?

Directv - Horrible service

2nd time since AT&T took over that a tech didnt show up. Said we canceled or were not home (lie!!). This time was xmas eve!! Didnt want a tech, only a new box but insisted that a tech MUST come to the house. Than not show!!! Missed time with family on a holiday! And 2nd time they did this! Waited 45 minutes to get a manager on the phone to get hung up on. Manager did nothing to compensate to wanted time and aggravation. Will be looking to dump this company the moment our contract is up. Been a customer for over 16 years, sad
