We received 2 offers by phone of movie channels that allegedly included the NFL channel. Both times the offer had a 3 month duration & we called to cancel the offers on or before the proscribed dates of cancellation.
The first time, (7/18/15] the entire package was cancelled correctly. The second time, (2/16) the CSR we spoke to only cancelled the movie channels & not the entire package which included the NFL channel! My husband & I DO NOT EVER watch football & indeed, if DIRECTV checked their records, the NFL channel was NEVER watched by this household! After fraudulently not cancelling the NFL channel when we called to cancel the ENTIRE promo package, Directv then performed a "negative option" & renewed the NFL channel at the next renewal date ( I dont know when that is exactly, as we DI NOT watch football!) & increased our monthly charges to pay for this channel that we DID NOT add & NEVER asked for!
Only when we cancelled Directv in early Dec. 2016, (due to our not being home to watch TV & also the rising cost) were we informed of the NFL channel being part of our package! Directv REFUSES to credit us the cost of their failure to have deleted the NFL channel that we NEVER ordered or allowed to be added to our package! Customer service has been a nightmare & our only option now is to resort to legal measures & file in Small Claims Court!
We will be seeking recovery of the fraudulent charges, court fees & punitive damages! If anyone else is also negatively impacted by Directv's use of the VERY fraudulent "negative option" of adding unwanted channels or not cancelling entire promo packages, we would be open to making this a Class Action Suit!
