1) your monthly bill is NEVER the same each month despite not making any changes to your account...when you question the increase the answer you get is usually related to an increase in taxes or the cost of the package unexpectedly increased 2)Charges are assessed on your account that should not be...when you pay for service and receivers are required to be able to use such service, you should not have to pay if those receivers malfunction through no fault of your own. However, DirectTv also charges you for thos too.

They assess a fee for a "protection plan" of 7.99 each month...that you either pay or you have to pay $50 to get someone out to fix your receiver PLUS the expense of any repairs. They also charge a fee each month for each receiver you have (which you have to have to watch television) $7 per receiver PLUS an "advanced receiver service" which is a $25 fee you pay to be able to use the functions of the receiver like recording, fast forwarding, and rewind pay this regardless of whether or not you use these functions. All of these hidden costs amount to a ridiculous bill each month for what is essentiallu basic cable.

Dont be fooled by their offers because trust me they arent as good as they seem. I will never recommend direct tv to anyone and will be cancelling my service asap!
