My girlfriend and I moved to Louisville KY last year from Florida. We didn't really know anybody, so we asked our new landlady for advice on who to get cable through.

She said the best way for us to go was Direct TV. As is turns out, her boyfriend was a sub-contractor for Direct TV. Not only did he profit from us by installing and subscribing us to this terrible company, but a few months down the road he quit his job with them and now has only the worst things to say about Direct TV... a complete 180 from the tale he was telling when he hooked it all up.

I have tried my best to be polite and patient with Direct TV, and a little bad weather throwing out the picture from time to time wouldn't bother me that much, but I have had it with them. Every UFC fight I have ever ordered has been partially cut off, during the best parts, and out of the 5 or so that I have ordered EVERY SINGLE ONE has been charged to my account 2 and in one case 3 times. I call, they apologize, they tell me they are very sorry and it will never happen again, and a month down the road it happens again. Same with movies that we have ordered.

Multiple time we have ordered movies that won't play or freeze during the middle of the movie and won't come back on, and it is like pulling teeth to get them to take it off our bill. So now, I refuse to order movies or paperview fights and all I have left is regular cable to rely on Direct TV for. Except lately that won't work either. The past few weeks, on the most beautifull of sunny summer days, the picture won't work and I get an error message telling me that no picture is available.

This has been happening in 2-3 hour spurts where it just won't work and there is nothing the people on the phone can do to explain it. During one of our most recent calls to Direct TV, my girlfriend found out that they have been automatically charging her account for NFL Sunday ticket. Something we never signed up for, and that even when they offered we said no. The lady on the phone even said that it showed on her computer that we had turned down their offer for Sunday Ticket and were not interested in any future offers from Direct TV for anything.

It was there, on her computer screen in very clear English that we did not want this program. Yet for 2 or 3 months and extra 30-something bucks has been charged to our account for NFL Sunday ticket, automatically being charged to our bank account and we didn't even notice. Once again, they said they were sorry and it wouldn't happen again, but I was to my bs limit and told them I wanted to cancel. As it turns out...

that cost 20 dollars a month times 2 years. So for the low price of 250 bucks you can bribe them not to ruin any more of your life.

I agree with the last comment. Cancel your card, do not pay a dime more and make them come after you. You have a good case.

I would STOP all auto pay to DirectTv, change the # or close the account for the card or bank account DTV has on file for you. Pay their bill with money orders and keep the receipts.

DO NOT let them have your bank or credit card # (get a preloaded card for their files) Also do not accept any replacements for any of their equipment (even if it stops working) as this will automatically renew your contract for another 2 yrs. When you cancel their service call them for shipping boxes and labe be sure to get a tracking# when returning their equipment otherwise they will most likely try to charge you for this as well.

There is no winning with DTV! They are the dirtiest company you will ever deal with.

do not give direct tv any type of blank check. debit card-credit card-bank acct # or anything else they they are free to take money from.

that whole industry are liars, sleasy, thiefs and a lot of other things i could think of. i had a direct tv sales rep try to scam me on his sales pitch. he asked for a credit card # to be charged $1.00 to seal the deal. so he said.

i pulled out a 1 dollar bill and handed it to him. he said (oh i can't take real money)told him he was not getting any card # and to take his sorry but and go. everyone needs to be more aware of what the federal trade commissions rules/regulations are for in home sales of such services. most states have comparable regulations that spell out what is required from the sellers.

the direct tv contract is iron clad in favor of direct tv. all the complainers need to file a complaint with ftc or their state atty generals office.

with enough complaints these folks can make changes in the way these thiefs do business. these companys can b investigated, fined.
