DIRECTV - Network channels out 4 mos; no proration of bill; $210 to cancel
We have been losing channels since early May 2019 due to a "contract dispute with Nextar." I do not want to get into a he said/she said, but I am still paying for these channels that I am unable to access. I finally decided to cancel.
Directv/ATT did not offer to prorate my bill in accordance with their "breach" of our contract, however they did tell me that if I cancel, I will be in "breach" and would be charged an early termination fee of $210. I mentioned that I had paid my bill early for July, $256, and this should take care of it. Then I was told that I couldn't technically be cancelled until the end of the July billing cycle.
So, they take major channels away from the customer, hold them hostage while NOT negotiating with the provider (yes, I spoke with Nextar), offer an attenae as a temporary fix, $5 for inconvenience, and then charge an ungodly amount of money for not providing the service that they contracted with you for. AND, I am supposed to pay them $210 for cancelling???
Reason of review: Access/ activation issues.
Preferred solution: Price reduction.
DIRECTV Cons: Inadequate service, Excessive costs, Breach of contract.
Location: Danville, Illinois
