Directv in Portsmouth, New Hampshire - Took money without authorization

I had 613 dollars taken out of my checking account by Direct TV without any form of authorization. I called them twice to discuss the matter and was told "this is our policy due to the equipment not returned to date" Its in the freaking mail!!!!! was mailed 2 days ago!!!!! I now have an overdrawn checking account and ALL of my money plus some has been taken. the transaction is in a "pending status" so my bank is working with the corporate office to have the ach reversed since its is 100% NOT AUTHORIZED!! i think its *** that they can just take money because they have bank info online from an account that was closed!!! Yes i have the receivers but that doestn not give them a right to just TAKE MONEY!

If your money is returned to your account you may want to ask your bank why they allowed a closed account to be debited. If you have already mailed the equipment and have a tracking# call the company that you mailed it through and have them check on where it is and if DTV has received it. Sadly yes when you gave them your account # this gives them the authority to debit your account any time they see fit but with the account being closed I would think it should have been refused by the bank.

DTV HAS A GREAT RIPOFF GOING ON TAKING PEOPLES MONEY WITH THEIR SO CALLED 2YR. CONTRACT THAT THEIR SALES PEOPLE DON,T TALK ABOUT WHEN YOU SIGN UP.THEY WILL SAY DIDN,T YOU READ THE FINE PRINT.AND I DID.BUT I WILL BE GETTING RID OF DIRECT TV SOON........

Directv screwed me again

From the beginning they screwed us. Between the contract and the montly bill.. Wasnt happy about the customer service either.. decided to keep it for a little longer cause I didnt want to pay the disconnection fee. got so pissed at them that I ended my contract paid all the bills. they took 127 bucks out of my bank account and than another 96 and than charged me for the dvr. we than called to get the package for then to pick up the dvr 5x. should of gotten 144 $ back instead we r getting 41$. mmhh something is missing

Directv in Windham, New Hampshire - Direct TV-Difficulty Cancelling Account

I just spent approximately an hour trying to cancel my account with Direct T.V. Wanted to cancel my account b/c I am moving, however, given the difficulty I encountered in trying to speak with a customer service representative, I would have cancelled whether I was moving or not! I currently owe a balance on my account and when I called the customer service number, the automated service would not allow me to speak with a representative until I paid the bill. So, I tried calling the NEW SERVICE number. I was able to speak with a live human being since I was trying to OPEN a new account (go figure). I informed her of my dilemma and she transferred me to the Customer Retention Dept. When I told the rep in Customer Retention that I would never recommend Direct T.V. to anyone, he told me he needed to put me on hold and he disconnected me (I did not yell, did not swear, just stated my case calmly and tastefully). Finally I went online to see if others had complained and found a list of Direct T.V. complaints and list of phone numbers. I called 3 other numbers not listed on the Direct T.V. site and they all had the automation until I called (800) 942-2788. Finally, a human being!!!!!! She transferred me once again to Customer Retention and this person tried over and over to retain me as a customer. I finally told her that nothing she could say would persuade me to stay and please just send me the boxes to ship the receivers back. She tried to get a forwarding address...nope not giving to them!! She did put me on hold but thankfully did not disconnect me. I am finally cancelled!!!!! Yipee!!! Good Luck to all you Direct T.V. users out there and stay away if you have not yet joined!!

Good Advice...Hopefully you will get the boxes in a timely manner.Make sure to get a tracking # from FedEx when returning the equipment in case DTV tries to say you did not return it.
