I have had DirecTV for 10+years - and had my parents switch to DirecTV too. DirecTV periodically increases my rate prompting me to call to talk with their 'Loyalty' department to get a more reasonable price.

I have a lot of cable channels to choose from (many are part of the package but never watched) but no movie channels, no football package, etc so today I tried to call as my bill has increased from approx. $80 to $140/month in the past 6 months. My option through the 'Loyalty' department - I can get a discount of $10/month bringing my bill to $130/month - unfortunately, no other offers "pull up" right now. Having been with this carrier for so long, and getting my parents to change over too, I was hoping for a different outcome.

At this point, I'll have to look at changing carriers in order to get a reasonable rate.

I believe $99/month to watch cable TV is reasonable; unfortunately it doesn't appear DirecTV feels the same. It feels like they'd rather lose a long-time customer.
