AT&T has turned DirectTV into a marketing arm for AT&T to get phone business. They have degraded the software...the new release that includes genie HR-44, etc. is a disaster. Poor continue, freezes routinely, illogical, annoying, just to make a few.
Tech Support is now outside the continental US. Verification process includes trying to sell you AT&T cell phone packages before they address the technical issue you called about. If you try to have them transfer you to a US-based TechSupport person, some can do it, most can’t figure out how to do it.
If frustrated call the main # and ask to cancel service. When you get the retention/loyalty department have them address the issues and get you over to US-based TechSupport.
Trying to stay with DirectTV since AT&T took over is getting harder and harder.
