For months now when my wife and I have programs set to record on a regular basis (for example Tonight Show with Stephen Colbert or Judge Judy) the recorded program will rarely show up the following day.

Usually it will show up late that day or a day later.

It is as if there are two or more List Menus; one in the morning with some, but not all, prerecorded programs and another in the late afternoon with other pre recorded programs - usually there is a mixture of both in the menus.

We were first told three or more months ago that it was a problem everyone was experiencing and it would be fixed by the end of August.

Nothing has changed and we are experiencing the same problems.

THIS ALL SEEMS TO HAVE STARTED AFTER A MAJOR SOFTWARE UPGRADE FOR ALL CUSTOMERS.

We are now being told we are the only ones with the problem. They have promised to take 30 -50 dollars off our November bill of 110.00.

I believe they are lying and would like to know if others are experiencing these problems:

>recorded programs do not show up in the List Menu - they will show up part of the 24 hour day but not the rest of the day. The List Menu is always changing on an irregular basis

> programs not recorded are recorded, series settings are changed, sometimes dozens of the same show are recorded

>even without a light rain the screen locks up into pixels - much worse than before - it used to take a good storm to lock up the TV; now only cloudy weather locks up the TV.

>We do not allow the DVR to be connected to the Internet or it would quickly use up all our limited hours

Direct TV imo has purchased somehow its place in the market. They spend huge amounts on advertising, promote customer surveys which I do not believe, have a very poor listing of movies, poor reception, and horrible software.

It is another example of a product or service pushed upon a market, a huge market, with an excellent provider - DISH

DISH has excellent software but does not advertise. They are far superior than DirectTV yet DirectTV has somethow purchased inroads it does not deserve in the market place ... rigged "capitalism". It is like the Mafia forcing inferior business onto a market which has already decided who is the best in service and cost.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $200.

Preferred solution: Price reduction.

Location: Albion, Nebraska

I've become cynical over the years. "Upgrade" = "Foulup" far too often.

I don't like "updates" either.

None of that junk should affect the way the equipment functioned before the so-called improvements. Just leave it alone once we're accustomed to it and for goodness sakes don't make it worse.
